Cyberpunk 2077: A radical change may be imminent for the successor

In an interview, a developer gives insight into why the successor to Cyberpunk 2077 could play somewhere else than Night City.

We still know relatively little about Project Orion, the successor to Cyberpunk 2077. But thanks to an interview conducted by colleagues from Gamingbolt , we at least know that the setting is probably not as set in stone as might be thought.

We have summarized everything else that was already known for you in this overview article .

Return to Night City?
Gamingbolt spoke to Magda Zych, senior writer and coordinator at CD Projekt RED. When asked if a future game in the Cyberpunk universe could take place somewhere other than Night City, the lead writer replied the following:

A cyberpunk game doesn’t necessarily have to take place in Night City. It could take place anywhere where excessive capitalism has spread.

She also refers to the creator of the sci-fi scenario, Mike Pondsmith:

As he said, cyberpunk as a genre is a warning of what could happen if we as humanity are not careful. It’s not an abstract idea. That’s why I think these kinds of stories can happen anywhere where societies are collapsing as a result of uber-capitalism. Night City is simply an environment, like any other city, whether real or imagined.

In the GameStar talk above, the developers of Cyberpunk 2077 put their cards on the table and provide insight into their experiences surrounding the controversial release of Cyberpunk 2077. What went wrong back then?

What do you want? Should the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 take place in Night City again? Or would you like to get to know another place in the universe? Which area would you most like to be able to explore in the next part of the series? Should it be a metropolis again? Something underground or would you prefer a more diverse mix of city and country? Feel free to write us your wishes and ideas in the comments!
